The newly constructed offices for Film Makers’ Cooperative in New York City, houses the largest archive of independent and avant-garde film in the world, (over 5,000 films, DVD’s and video tapes). MRTA was brought on this project as General Contractor to help implement and contribute to the Design Architect’s concept. The installation of climate control (AC) systems was an essential part of this project to maintain an environment that would preserve the integrity of the films. The installation of the HVAC system by MRTA required coordination with multiple parties, detailed work and expertise. In addition to climate controlled archives, the offices consist of a small theater, office work space and a conference room. The Film Makers Cooperative is in part supported by the New York State Council on the Arts. Funding for this project was limited but organization and careful planning led to this project being completed on time and on budget.
